Gifts

Heya! What’s up! Again with me! Today, I came bearing gifts. Ooh, are you curious what my gifts are and what are they for? I brought 2 special gifts for 2 very special characters from 2 stories I had read and watched. I’m very excited to show it to you all! Do not fret, I will put the links to the stories at the end of this blog so you can check it out and you’ll agree on why I chose these gifts!

The first one is for Chihiro Ogino from Spirited Away, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli). I’m gifting her a vintage dragon hair stick! Why? Because in the movie, Haku—the male protagonist—is a dragon spirit, thus having an Asian dragon form—a wingless dragon— later in the movie. Haku and Chihiro are very close and they ended falling in love near the end of the movie, but sadly they must go apart ways. So, I figured the dragon hair pick would the perfect gift, since it faintly reminds me of Haku, and I hope she does too!

And the second one is Elisa Allen from The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck, originally published in 1937. For her, I’m gifting her an Orchid bouquet. Orchids symbolize pride and femininity. A weird gift since she’s from a story called The Chrysanthemums, huh? Haha! I want to give her Orchids because the chrysanthemums represent Elisa's femininity. They represent her femininity and sexuality at first, and then her children. Elisa is dissatisfied with her life because her marriage to Henry lacks children and romance. Her husband is also unappreciative of her feminine qualities and emotional needs. The encounter with The Man reawakens Elisa's sexuality and gives her hope for a more exciting and romantic marriage, but when she sees the flowers thrown on the road, she realizes that her life will not change. It completely devastates her to have to settle for such an unfulfilling existence. So, with the bouquet, I hope it represents my support for her!

Well, those are the gifts and the receivers of my gifts! It may not seem much, but it lies special meanings and I thought long and hard to pick those gifts.

I'll see you all later in next's blog!

ciao!
