Let Me Write A Poem About You

Hello Hello! Welcome back to another blog of mine! I hope you all are doing well today! Today, I’m doing something different, that is writing acrostic poems! Poems for my 2 favorite characters from the stories I’ve read and listened to, and I’m so excited to show them to you all.

First up in line is Sophie Hatter from Howl’s Moving Castle, by Studio Ghibli, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The story is about Sophie's life at her late father's hat shop is uneventful, but everything changes when she meets wizard Howl, who lives in a magical moving castle. The evil Witch of Waste, however, objects to their budding relationship and casts a spell on Sophie, causing her to age prematurely. Now Howl must use all of his magical abilities to defeat the envious hag and restore Sophie's youth and beauty. The movie is approximately 2 hours long, so you better prepare some popcorns and get comfy! The reason why I made a poem for her is that she’s so inspiring, even though she was cursed and turned old, she only became even stronger! If I was her, I would just give up! Now, here is my acrostic poem for her:

Strong-willed

Optimistic

Passionate

Hard-working

Impartial

Elegant

See how it spells Sophie’s name? Allow me to explain a bit, I made the poem based on her personality throughout the movie, like how she became so strong-willed after getting cursed, she’s so optimistic that she can break Howl’s curse, she became so passionate about her new job as a cleaning lady for Howl, she also helped the witch—the one who cursed her—and put her under her protection! And let’s not forget how elegant she is while solving many difficulties while Howl is not around. I looked up to her very much!

And now the second poem goes to Edgar Allan Poe! Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer, poet, editor, and literary critic who lived from January 19, 1809, to October 7, 1849. Poe's poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre, are his most well-known works. I wrote a poem for this particular legendary poet and author is because I admire how he portrays horror and mystery into his works—which I read a few titles—so I wrote this poem as a sign of appreciation for his works.

Academic

Legendary

Literate

Ambitious

Natural

These are the 5 words that really portray Edgar Allan Poe a lot in my opinion. He is ambitious and a natural at poetry, even if he was discouraged he still preferred poetry over profits. Although Edgar Allan Poe was not the first to write horror stories, his literary techniques laid the groundwork for what has become a hugely popular genre. Other horror writers such as Ambrose Bierce and H.P. Lovecraft were influenced by his use of psychological horror through first-person narration, basically a legend in horror and detective stories. And he is an educated man who attended the University of Virginia, though he was forced to leave after a year due to lack of money.

So, how are my poems? pretty neat, eh? It took me a long time to think of these and I hope you all enjoyed reading this post as much as I do! Well, I'll see you all later in next time's blog post!

ciao!
