My Emoji Stories part 2

Image
Hello hello! And welcome back to my blog! But first, you're probably wondering, why part 2? It's for my assignment, after all! Without further ado, let's get to the rest of this blog!   I'm bringing a myth today, Hercules: 12 Labors , by TED-Ed and narrated by Alex Gendler. The video lasts 7:50 minutes. The myth tells of Hercules' journey to complete 12 labors in order to be forgiven by Goddess Hera for his crime. Throughout his labors, Hercules demonstrated inhuman strength and the ability to perform impossible tasks, such as defeating mythical beasts and dealing with other gods/goddesses. So, this is the emoji that best represents my expression while watching the myth!  ðŸ˜²ðŸ˜²ðŸ˜² Yes! I was stunned and occasionally had my mouth agape, haha! I'd seen the Disney adaptation of the myth, but this particular video fascinates me and is more focused on Hercules' abilities. Like how he easily dispatched The Nemean Lion, and how he only needed to sail to the ...

The Perfect Song

Image
Hi hi! Back at it again with me! Hope you have a wonderful day! Another day, another blog! While last week we’re talking about bookmarks, today we’re talking about songs! Let us start!   The first story is a film adaptation of Mark Twain's novel of the same name, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer . This film is produced by David O. Selznick and directed by Norman Taurog, released in 1983, and it is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Tom is a mischievous child who envies Huck Finn's lazy lifestyle and freedom at the start of the novel. However, as Tom's adventures progress, key moments reveal Tom moving away from his childhood concerns and making mature, responsible decisions. In the end, growing up for Tom means embracing social customs while foregoing childhood freedoms. Now, the song that matches well with this film is When I Was A Boy by Jeff Lynne's ELO. When I was a boy, I learned to play Far into the night and drift away Don't wanna work on the milk or the bread ...

Bookmarks with Quotations

Image
Hello! Hello! Welcome back to my blog! I hope you are all doing well! Today –as usual—I’m brought a reading text and a listening text to you all, and I made bookmarks! My very own designs, uniquely made with my favorite quotes from both stories. Let’s have a look, shall we?   First up is from The Scarlet Letter , a beautiful novel created by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It has around 60.000 words, so I think my bookmark would be a wonderful reminder for you to get one if you’re planning to read this (if you’re getting the physical copy). I’m going to tell you a short summary of the novel, the story is set in a village in Puritan New England. The main character is Hester Prynne, a young woman who has borne a child out of wedlock. Hester believes herself a widow, but her husband, Roger Chillingworth, arrives in New England very much alive and conceals his identity. After Hester refuses to name her lover, Chillingworth becomes obsessed with finding his identity. When he learns that ...

Let Me Write A Poem About You

Image
Hello Hello! Welcome back to another blog of mine! I hope you all are doing well today! Today, I’m doing something different, that is writing acrostic poems! Poems for my 2 favorite characters from the stories I’ve read and listened to, and I’m so excited to show them to you all.   First up in line is Sophie Hatter from Howl’s Moving Castle , by Studio Ghibli, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The story is about Sophie's life at her late father's hat shop is uneventful, but everything changes when she meets wizard Howl, who lives in a magical moving castle. The evil Witch of Waste, however, objects to their budding relationship and casts a spell on Sophie, causing her to age prematurely. Now Howl must use all of his magical abilities to defeat the envious hag and restore Sophie's youth and beauty. The movie is approximately 2 hours long, so you better prepare some popcorns and get comfy! The reason why I made a poem for her is that she’s so inspiring, even thoug...
